Cryolipolysis,

Bristol

Controlled cooling used to target localised areas of stubborn fat. It is particularly useful where pockets of fat remain despite changes in diet, exercise or overall body weight, which is exactly the situation most people describe when they come to us.

In short

What is cryolipolysis, or fat freezing?

Cryolipolysis at The Hampton Clinic in Bristol uses controlled cooling to target localised areas of stubborn fat, delivered on the 3D-Lipo UltimatePro platform. It is particularly useful for areas such as the abdomen, arms and legs where pockets of fat may remain despite changes in diet, exercise or overall body weight.

What cryolipolysis does

Cryolipolysis is designed to target localised areas of stubborn fat using controlled cooling.

It can be particularly useful for areas such as the abdomen, arms and legs, where pockets of fat may remain despite changes in diet, exercise or overall body weight.

The controlled cooling targets fat cells within the treatment area, which are then gradually cleared through the body's natural processes. The word gradually is doing real work in that sentence: this is not an overnight change and we would rather you knew that before you started.

What it is not

Body contouring is not intended as a treatment for obesity and it is not an alternative to weight loss. It is designed to target specific areas where additional contouring or skin improvement may be desired.

If what you are describing is better answered by something else, we will tell you that at the consultation rather than sell you a course.

Where this sits in your plan, whether it is used on its own or alongside something else, and how many sessions we recommend, all follow from the assessment rather than from a package chosen in advance.

Where it sits in a programme

We do not think body contouring should begin by choosing a machine from a menu. Cryolipolysis is one of four technologies on the 3D-Lipo UltimatePro, alongside cavitation, radio frequency and shockwave therapy.

Which of them your programme uses, whether a combination would be more useful, and how many sessions we recommend, all follow from the assessment. Where appropriate, measurements and photographs are taken at the start so progress is compared against a record rather than against recollection.

Programmes combine technologies according to what the assessment finds, so these are results from a programme rather than from this technology used alone. Results vary between individuals.

What the evidence says

Fat freezing is heavily marketed, so here are figures from clinical sources rather than from a clinic.

Cleveland Clinic describes cryolipolysis as a non surgical fat reduction procedure using cold temperature, reports an average fat reduction of between 15 and 28 per cent at around four months, and notes that most people resume normal daily activities immediately. It also names paradoxical adipose hyperplasia as a rare risk, more common in men, and states the procedure is not intended for people with obesity.

Cleveland Clinic

The American Society for Dermatologic Surgery describes cryolipolysis as non invasive cooling of body fat to break down fat cells, usually over multiple sessions, with a visible decrease in two to four months.

Those are published averages, not a figure we are promising you. What is appropriate for the area you want treated, and how many sessions we would recommend, is set at your consultation.

Suitability

Honest about who
it is for.

It may suit you if

  • You have a specific pocket of fat rather than a general wish to lose weight
  • The area has not responded to diet, exercise or overall weight change
  • You are prepared to treat it as a course rather than a single session
  • You want progress measured against a baseline rather than assumed

It is not the answer if

  • You are looking for a treatment for obesity or an alternative to weight loss
  • You want the change to be visible within days
  • Skin laxity rather than fat is the main concern in that area
  • Assessment suggests another technology or combination would serve you better

How it runs

The areas first,
then the technology,
in that order.

  1. 01

    Consultation

We discuss the areas of concern, assess your suitability and establish what you would like to achieve.

  2. 02

    Baseline

Where appropriate, measurements and photographs are taken so progress can be monitored against a record.

  3. 03

    Your programme

The appropriate 3D-Lipo UltimatePro technologies and the number of sessions are recommended for you, rather than sold as a package.

  4. 04

    Through the course

Meaningful body contouring develops over a course, so your programme and progress are considered as a whole rather than judged after one session.

  5. 05

    Reviewed

Progress is reviewed throughout and the treatment adjusted where appropriate.

Questions

Before
you book.

What is cryolipolysis, or fat freezing?

Cryolipolysis uses controlled cooling to target localised areas of stubborn fat, often on the abdomen, arms and legs where pockets remain despite changes to diet, exercise or overall body weight. The targeted fat cells are then gradually cleared through the body's natural processes.

Which areas can be treated with fat freezing?

It can be particularly useful for areas such as the abdomen, arms and legs. Which areas are appropriate for you is established at your consultation.

Is this a weight loss treatment?

No. Body contouring is not intended as a treatment for obesity and it is not an alternative to weight loss. It is designed to target specific areas where additional contouring or skin improvement may be wanted.

How much does a body contouring programme cost?

Bespoke body contouring programmes start from £600. The final cost depends on the areas being treated, the technologies recommended and the number of sessions required, and a full treatment plan and price is discussed with you after your consultation.

How many sessions will I need?

It varies from person to person. Meaningful body contouring develops over a course of treatment rather than in a single session, so your programme is planned and reviewed as a whole and the number recommended for you is set at your consultation.

Next step

Bring us the area,
not the machine.

If a stubborn pocket of fat is what brought you here, the first step is a consultation. We will assess the area, discuss what is realistically achievable, and recommend a programme built for you.
