The clinic position

What cavitation does

Cavitation uses ultrasound energy as a non surgical approach to body contouring.

At The Hampton Clinic it can be incorporated into a treatment programme to target localised areas of fat and improve body contour, as well as being used within programmes addressing the appearance of cellulite.

Depending on what we are trying to achieve, cavitation may be combined with other technologies rather than used alone.

Why it is usually combined

That last line is not a caveat, it is how we actually use it. Cavitation earns its place inside a programme rather than as a standalone package, and the combination is chosen for what we are treating.

It sits alongside cryolipolysis, radio frequency and shockwave therapy on the 3D-Lipo UltimatePro, and which of them your programme uses follows from the assessment.

Where this sits in your plan, whether it is used on its own or alongside something else, and how many sessions we recommend, all follow from the assessment rather than from a package chosen in advance.

What it is not

Body contouring is not intended as a treatment for obesity and it is not an alternative to weight loss. It is designed to target specific areas where additional contouring or skin improvement may be desired.

Because meaningful body contouring develops over a course of treatment, we do not position a single session as the solution. Your programme and your progress are considered as a whole.

The evidence

Our own patients,
unretouched, with
their consent.

Where appropriate, photographs are taken at the start of a programme so progress is measured against a record. Drag the slider to compare.

These are patients of the clinic who completed body contouring programmes, published with their consent and without retouching. Programmes combine technologies according to what the assessment finds, so these are results from a programme rather than from this technology used alone. Results vary between individuals.

What the evidence says

We would rather quote a dermatology body than our own brochure, including where it is cautious.

The American Society for Dermatologic Surgery describes ultrasound for non invasive body contouring as using focused sound waves to disrupt fat cells so they dissolve gradually, over multiple sessions, with results at two to four months. It also states plainly that there are not yet long term studies on these procedures and no guarantee regarding their effectiveness.

American Society for Dermatologic Surgery

We have quoted that caution deliberately. Cavitation is used here inside a programme, chosen for what the assessment finds, rather than sold as a certainty.

Suitability

Honest about who
it is for.

It may suit you if

  • Localised fat and body contour are what you want to change
  • The appearance of cellulite is part of the picture
  • You are open to a combination rather than a single technology
  • You are prepared to treat it as a course

It is not the answer if

  • You are looking for a treatment for obesity or an alternative to weight loss
  • You want one technology, chosen by you, applied without assessment
  • Skin laxity is the dominant concern and nothing else is
  • You want a single session to be the whole solution

How it runs

The areas first,
then the technology,
in that order.

  1. 01

    Consultation

We discuss the areas of concern, assess your suitability and establish what you would like to achieve.

  2. 02

    Baseline

Where appropriate, measurements and photographs are taken so progress can be monitored against a record.

  3. 03

    The combination

We determine which technologies should be used and whether a combination would be beneficial, rather than starting from a machine.

  4. 04

    Through the course

Meaningful body contouring develops over a course, so your programme and progress are considered as a whole.

  5. 05

    Reviewed

Progress is reviewed throughout and the treatment adjusted where appropriate.

Questions

Before
you book.

What is ultrasound cavitation?

Cavitation uses ultrasound energy as a non surgical approach to body contouring. At The Hampton Clinic it is incorporated into programmes to target localised areas of fat and improve body contour, and within programmes addressing the appearance of cellulite.

Is cavitation used on its own?

Depending on what we are trying to achieve, it may be combined with other technologies rather than used alone. Which technologies your programme uses follows from your consultation.

Is this a weight loss treatment?

No. Body contouring is not intended as a treatment for obesity and it is not an alternative to weight loss. It is designed to target specific areas where additional contouring or skin improvement may be wanted.

How much does a body contouring programme cost?

Bespoke body contouring programmes start from £600. The final cost depends on the areas being treated, the technologies recommended and the number of sessions required, and a full treatment plan and price is discussed with you after your consultation.

How many sessions will I need?

It varies from person to person. Meaningful body contouring develops over a course of treatment rather than in a single session, so your programme is planned and reviewed as a whole and the number recommended for you is set at your consultation.
