We wanted the latest generation of Soprano, and we chose it on five things: safety, comfort, speed, the range of skin tones it can treat, and its ability to handle both small detailed areas and large ones well.

The one that mattered most was the range of skin tones. A laser that only works well on fair skin with dark hair is not much use to a clinic in a city like this one. Soprano Titanium is suitable across the full Fitzpatrick range, I to VI, including darker and melanin rich skin. That is a reason we chose it, not a promise about your individual outcome. Your skin is still assessed before anything begins.

Soprano Titanium combines three wavelengths in a single applicator, so one pass reaches structures sitting at different depths rather than treating only one of them.

It uses SHR, gradual heat build up, rather than firing single high energy pulses. The applicator is kept moving across the area while energy is delivered progressively, and the target is brought up to temperature over a series of passes instead of all at once. A cooling tip stays in contact with your skin the whole time.

That combination is why the treatment feels different from the laser many people remember, and why it can be taken across a larger area without the appointment becoming an endurance test.

Every new laser hair removal client is seen before any treatment starts. That is not a formality and it is not a sales appointment.

At the consultation we look at your skin and your hair, talk through the areas you want treated, go through your relevant history and anything you are taking that might matter, and discuss what is realistic for you. We then carry out a patch test.

Skin tone, hair colour, hair thickness, the area being treated and your medical background all change what is appropriate. Two people who describe exactly the same concern can need two different approaches, which is precisely why this is decided in the room and not on a web page.

If we do not believe treatment is appropriate for you, we will say so.

Most clients describe it as warm and comfortable. The applicator moves steadily over the area, the heat builds gradually rather than arriving in sharp individual snaps, and the cooling tip is against your skin throughout.

We are careful not to call it painless, because sensation is personal and we would rather you arrived with an accurate expectation than a marketing one. What we will say is that it is designed for greater comfort than older systems, and that clients who have had laser hair removal elsewhere usually notice the difference.

Appointments are shorter than people expect. Underarms take around twenty minutes from the moment you sit down. A full body appointment is usually sixty to ninety minutes, depending on you and on the areas being treated.

Laser hair removal is a course of treatment, not a single appointment. Hairs are at different stages of their cycle at any moment, so no one session can reach all of them, and anyone telling you otherwise is selling rather than explaining.

You may notice changes after the first session. That is common, and it is still not the finished result. Over a course, most clients see less growth, regrowth that is finer and less dense, hair returning more slowly and a real drop in how often they need to shave.

The aim is long term hair reduction. We do not promise that every treated hair disappears permanently, because that is not what the treatment does. Results vary between individuals, and hormonal and physiological factors can influence hair growth, which is one of the things your consultation covers.

Once a course is finished, some maintenance is normally part of holding the result. We would rather tell you that at the start than surprise you with it later.

We treat women and men, across facial and body areas. The technology is the same and so is the consultation process. The practical difference is that men usually need a longer course, and that is discussed with you rather than guessed at here.

Commonly treated areas include the underarms, legs, bikini, arms, back, chest, face and neck. Because Soprano Titanium handles both small detailed areas and large ones, a treatment plan can combine several areas in one appointment.

Laser hair removal is priced as a course rather than by the session. Courses run from £250 for a small area up to £2,000 for full body, and both are priced as a course of eight sessions.

Where you sit between those two depends on how many areas you are having treated and how large they are. A course covering underarms is not the same job as a course covering legs, back and chest, and the price reflects that.

Eight is the size of the course, not a promise about you. How many sessions any individual needs varies with skin, hair, the area and other factors, and some people need more than one course. That is exactly the sort of thing your consultation is for, and we would rather tell you now than after you have paid.
